The LOOK Challenge

If you’re in the Atlanta area, I’ll be at the Decatur Book Festival all day tomorrow and will probably pop in for a bit on Sunday. Paperback copies of INHALE and EXHALE will be available for purchase (Only $10 each – regular price is $15.99!), and I’ll be signing at the Emerging Authors Stage on Saturday from 12:05 – 12:15. I’ll also be giving away these (see my lovely self-portrait on the left) glorious special edition USB drives, which include an ARC of INHALE and other cool stuff. I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of Twitter and Facebook friends.
Also, in case you missed it, “Letting Go,” my JUST BREATHE “Ephemera” short about Zoe and how she got the bird from INHALE is now FREE on Amazon. It’s a very sweet little story. I hope you’ll check it out and tell your reader friends about it.
Now, on to the important stuff…The illustrious and super-sweet Jennifer Wells tagged me in her “The LOOK Challenge” post this week, so I figured I’d play along. :-)
- Find the first usage of the word “look” in your work in progress and paste the surrounding paragraph(s) into your blog.
- Invite as many people as you want to take part in the challenge with you.
Seems easy enough. Here’s a snippet from “Dirty,” my soon-to-be-released JUST BREATHE “Ephemera” short. Keep in mind, it’s a first draft, so it rather sucks. :-)
Well, it wasn’t surprising. They’d been dating for months, and she barely had the courage to kiss him, let alone have sex with him. He’d made his interest clear on several occasions, but she…she just couldn’t do it.
Jetta got in the car and glanced down at herself. Stick-thin arms and legs. Flat chest. Curve-less body. She might as well be androgynous. If Tyson ever saw the skin and bones under the frumpy clothes, he’d run away screaming. The only thing she had going for her was an okay-looking face and a gentle disposition.
Not good enough.
If you’re reading this post, consider yourself tagged. :-) I expect a full “LOOK” report on my desk next week.
Happy Labor Day weekend to my American friends, and happy regular whatever weekend to everyone else!
